STOP INVESTING IN OTHER PEOPLES POTENTIAL INSTEAD OF YOURS

Every day I wake up, and within the first 10 mins, I'm already overwhelmed. You have to worry about chores, work, relationships, and all the shit we have to do just to stay alive. But putting too much focus into other things aside from your self-care can put you off balance, making it that much tougher to get fucking anything done.

But I know what you are thinking, HOW THE FUCK FO I DO THAT? I've been having a hard time remembering to drink water, let alone actually take care of my own needs emotionally.

Repeat after me. Stop investing in other people's potential instead of your own.

I don't care if you are 19 or 69, you always have the potential to be more content in life, but just like anything else, you gotta work for it. You have to make it a priority.

If women put half the energy into themselves that they spend on their romantic relationships, can you imagine how much happier we would all be?

As a woman especially, saying that you will prioritize your needs feels just plain wrong to say out loud. We are natural caretakers, but often this means that we forget about our own mental health. I don't know about you, but I'll even self-sabotage the shit out of myself just so I don't have to deal with my own problems because I'm distracted by taking care of others. WHY?!

I bet your default setting to any request made is an overwhelming yes because you want to be helpful and earn praise and love. Instead, reverse that shit in your mind to an automatic NO THANKS. It's a bit of a mind fuck. If it's an automatic no, you are no longer making decisions out of guilt.

For example, you get invited to a family gathering. Say no in your head first. How did that feel? Were you relieved? Or did you feel like you were missing out? Even just taking a pause when asked a question or telling people, "let me get back to you," so you can have the space to think to yourself, "Is this something that will fill my cup or empty it?" Giving yourself some time to think about your answer can make a world of difference.

I can't tell you the amount of confidence and happiness I have in my life right now because of saying no, protecting my energy, and putting my needs at the forefront. I hope this new shirt design we created and this short read will help you do the same.
